French Si Clause
Our previous blog posts mainly focused upon the various types of French oral exam questions. In addition to knowing the style of question, it is also important to understand grammar rules to demonstrate your French communication skills.
One of the advanced French grammar exercises to study for your DALF C1 French oral exam is the ability to easily apply the grammar rules for French si clauses. French si clauses are are used to express a hypothetical statement. For instance, in English you may often hear someone say “If I am late, then start to eat without me.” When you deconstruct the sentence then you will notice that the first phrase is in the past tense and the second phrase is making a conditional statement. Therefore, to express the same concept in French we can use the following sentence.
Si je suis en retard, commence le repas sans moi.
